Buy luxury perfume by Histoire Olfactive Collective at Fortnum & Mason London

HOC which means Collective Olfactory History (and rightly translates to “nose” in Russian), is an artistic perfumery created by the best perfumers in the world, writing modern olfactory history through fragrances inspired by lifestyles and histories .

Founded by Masha Zanier, a young Parisian of Russian and Georgian origin, she is originally from the world of fashion, which sparked her interest in the history of the designer, which she pursued until the HOC.

Interestingly, each year one of the perfumers will create a fragrance in partnership with HOC, exploring a theme entirely of their choice. Expect inspirations from beloved places, books, people, movies, and cities around the world. This modern philosophy is encapsulated in a bold bottle featuring an intricate cap that is encrypted with a map of a city, sending its wearer on a scent pass.

The first HOC story is brought to you by Vincent Schaller, renowned perfumer from Firmenich. Consisting of three chapters, there is English Rose, Tea Time and The Club London is at the heart of this fragrance. Only then can you shop the trio in the famous Fortnum & Mason store beauty salon in the heart of Piccadilly, London.

Felicity Carter: What was your first fashionable memory?

Masha Zanier: I have always been drawn to the unusual, something unique that no one has. I remember trying on my mom’s whole wardrobe, mixing it up with mine, and trying to look different every day at school. I also started traveling quite early and every trip was an inspiration and a change of style. I must say that I am still the same.

FC: What is luxury for you?

MZ: For me, a luxury product must absolutely have an idea, a story, must be made with taste and with quality materials. But it’s not just about these elements. Luxury is something that makes you feel distinguished and unique.

FC: Who is your client?

MZ: People who love artistic perfumery, art and stories, someone with a special taste.

FC: What are the cornerstones of your business?

MZ: Quality. Novelty. Integrity. Freedom of creation.

HOC was created with the idea of having a platform where the perfumer can really express himself and create something different.

FC: What was the first perfume you designed and how did it come about?

MZ: HOC is my very first designed perfume. The idea came from fashion. I wanted to celebrate the artists behind the industry.

FC: Tell us about HOC and the process …

MZ: I worked in the fashion industry for a while, I used to own a fashion brand, and I noticed that in the fashion world everything is designer based, but in the perfume industry, we hardly know who the “stars” are. I wanted to change that and contacted Vincent Schaller to create the first London-inspired HOC fragrance. The whole process lasted almost 2 years.

FC: What are your immediate and long term goals for your business?

MZ: The immediate objective is to develop our retail network and open perfume outlets in places such as hotels, concept corners, fashion and vintage stores. We want to work with non-traditional outlets.

The long term goal is to have a “voice” to draw attention to perfumers as artists.
